Radiating Her graces on this gift basket is the famous Irish Madonna of Hungary. I visited this famous Shrine in Hungary (in the town of Gyor) recently. Briefly, the painting of the Irish Madonna was brought to Hungary by an Irish Bishop, Bishop Lynch, fleeing the persecutions in Ireland. In Vienna he met the Bishop of Gyor, who invited him to his archdiocese in picturesque Gyor. Two hundred years or so later, on the Feast of St. Patrick, early morning Hungarian Mass goers were astounded to see the image shedding tears of blood for Her people in Ireland.
